The Wedding Hangover Is Real | A Wedding Photographer’s Perspective

The high energy of a wedding day has an aftereffect I like to call the wedding hangover.

The next day, I’m still buzzing from the excitement. I find myself going through the images, making small tweaks, deciding which ones to share. I tell myself not to share too many because I want that excitement to build for the couple over the coming weeks… but at the same time I want to share them all right now!!!

The truth is, the remedy isn’t simple. Being able to relive those wedding day moments through the images becomes a little addictive.

I’m incredibly proud of who I’ve become as an event photographer. More than three decades of experience go into every single wedding I photograph. When everything comes together, the light, the emotion, the timing, it feels powerful.

It’s a little like Iron Man raising his hand as the energy builds before the release. Years of training and creative energy all focused into one moment.

That’s why when my wife asks me after a wedding, “How was it?”

My answer is always the same:

“I destroyed it.” 😄

Thirty-plus years of creative energy unleashed… all while working with a smile.
