Some weddings have a soundtrack. Jordan and Nic's wedding had a live one — and the bride was part of it. As a New Orleans wedding photographer for more than three decades, I've seen plenty of first dances and toasts, but I don't get to photograph a bride singing a love song to her groom very often. When it happens, you remember it.
Getting Ready in Rust and Romance
The day started on a white-columned porch with Jordan's bridesmaids in matching rust-red robes, the first laughs of a long, happy day. Inside, the details told their own story: the rings lined up in soft light, her perfume glowing amber on a mirrored surface, and a quiet moment in front of an ornate gold mirror as her mom helped with the final touches. The hug between Jordan and her mother is one of those frames I hope hangs on a wall for a lifetime.
Her bridesmaids, now in burnt-orange gowns, gathered around to fluff her train — color, chandeliers, and a lot of love in one room.
Nic and the Groomsmen
Across the property, Nic looked sharp in a blue suit with a rust boutonniere, sunglasses on and a grin that never quite left his face. The late-day light filtering through the trees made his portraits glow, and his groomsmen brought the swagger for their group shot under the oaks.
Golden-Hour Portraits Under the Oaks
The grounds gave us everything a photographer could ask for: towering trees, a garden arch, and a pond with a fountain catching the sun. We wandered from a tender veil kiss (it had to be black-and-white) to the dock over the water, finishing with Jordan and Nic standing in the woods as golden light poured through the branches. Golden hour in South Louisiana does half the work — you just have to be in the right spot when it happens.
A Bride, a Microphone, and the Band Karma
Then the reception turned into a concert. The band Karma — the same band Jordan sings with — took the stage, and before long the bride was holding the microphone. She sang to Nic while he sat front and center, and the room went quiet in the best way. Then the band kicked back in, and the dance floor never emptied. Friends and family danced, sang along, and celebrated like only a New Orleans-area crowd can.
The Sparkler Exit
To close the night, guests lined the front steps with sparklers blazing. Jordan and Nic ran the tunnel hand in hand, and Nic stopped for one last dip and kiss in the glow. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful celebration with friends and family.
